Events offer rich photographic opportunities — whether sporting, musical or festive. I rarely travel specifically to witness or photograph them; I prefer those I can reach on foot or by public transport. Whatever the occasion, my favourite subjects are the individuals or groups taking part. I’m not chasing celebrities or stars — they’re difficult to approach, and they’re not what interests me anyway (though if one happened to stroll past, I wouldn’t waste the opportunity).
More often than not, I don’t know the names of the people I photograph, but I always try to portray them favourably. I hope that anyone who recognises themselves here would be pleased with how they appear.
