Collins Dictionary defines Landscape as an extensive area of land regarded as being visually distinct. Landscapes are able to be visually "enhanced" by adding water or sky. My preferred landscapes are those containing predominantly natural features, with not much impact of the hand of man, but you can see from my favourites that I bend this rule when it suits me. Landscapes should be large in scope, otherwise it becomes a Detail, and they must be aesthetically beautiful, or they are not worth shooting. If a landscape strongly features animal life, I prefer to categorise it as Nature or Wildlife. These are arbitrary distinctions, I know, but it's just how my mind works.
